German-owned supermarket Aldi has collaborated with TV mixologist Pritesh Mody to recreate “an impressive collection of world-class cocktails”, but at a fraction of the price. Why not scale up those Zoom drinks with the squad from a can of lager to something a bit more decadent.
It’s been timed to coincide with the launch of Aldi’s new botanical gin range, Haysmith’s, and they had a live cocktail making masterclass on the Aldi Facebook page, and you can find some of the recipes here.
Pritesh Mody, who is a regular on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and BBC News, kickstarted the project with a “night of imagining that ‘going out’ feeling” with the masterclass, which is still available on Aldi’s Facebook page.
The exclusive cocktail recipes include Aldi’s take on some of the most famous drinks around the world, including the Jardin D’Aldi, designed to be “every bit as good as Chateau Marmont’s Gardener’s Gimley”. Or shoppers can try a take on Novikov’s Wild Orchard cocktail with Aldi’s Bloomin’ Wild recipe.
Mody said: “With everyone stuck indoors at the moment, many of us are missing our favourite bars and restaurants. So, it’s been a pleasure to team up with Aldi and the incredible new Haysmith’s Gin range to create a selection of easy and affordable recipes that are inspired by some of the most exciting cocktails around.
“Hopefully these drinks will allow everyone to mix themselves a little taste of luxury at home and perhaps even impress their friends during the now obligatory weekend drink online!”
Aldi’s new cocktail recipes feature its new Hayman’s Gin collection. The new range is available now and it includes Haysmith’s Peach & Orange Blossom Gin, mango & Passionfruit Gin and Seville Orange & Persian Lime Gin.
Hopefully, soon your favourite Soho cocktail bar will be open once again, for any and all occasions!
